The New Employment Norms and Trends!
Hello there! Hope you've got your long weekend sorted so that the new Quarter starts off better. Also, do you too feel like this particular month, i.e. September has just passed in a snap? Well, today is Dussehra, one of the most auspicious day's in the Indian Culture. I wish you good fortune for your good times to come since today is the day when the heaven's abode of good triumphed over evil. And, now, getting back to business (:-p)
The 'employment' trends have changed and evolved over the years. From daily wagers to salaried employees, Indian organizations have opened doors to various practices throughout these years. But today, I want to share with you'll the new(est) practices related to employment and office cultures that has seen a rise since the last 2-3 years. The reason for knowing and being at par with the new practices is because it will help you as an employee pick the right employer and vice-versa. So, here's a list of such new employment trends:
3. Informal Culture on the Rise:
Casual Fridays / Saturdays, Open-Door Policies, Work-From Home, Flexi-Timings, Friday Burn-outs, Changes in Hierarchical Structures, Employee Engagement practices that include every employee level, all of these regulations which have evolved over the years has made 'office' culture a rather informal one in contrast to the up-teem disciplined culture. As there is an increase in the 'youth' work-force there is also an increase in informal culture, though these changes are slow in evolving, they are and will be prevalent.
4. 'New Age' Diversity:
The Millennials are working with Generation Z, the permanent staff is working with the contractual staff, there's a rise in co-working spaces, these changes in the organization's culture have added to the trend of a 'New Age' Diversity apart from the usual cross-cultural and global diversity that MNCs portray.
5. Employee Engagement:
Gone are the days when employees were easily let-off, the organization's are now inculcating engaging people practices so that the potential employees stay with the organization's longer than they would have planned, since the costs of hiring new talents is something that organization's are looking forward to save on. Many organizations are taking it up on themselves and initiating employee developmental practices rather than just engaging them. But, do not mix employee engagement to be employee entertainment.

6. 'Coffee-Shop' Perks:
Okay, do not confuse yourself with this nomenclature. 'Coffee-Shop' Perks is a part of 'Compensation and Benefits' practices where-in the employees are allowed to choose their perks / benefits based on their requirements, like choosing your coffee from the coffee shop. Every person has different needs, for instance, a person may not be needing home loan exemptions, but education loan exemptions for his / her child, hence it is only beneficial for the employee to get what he / she wants. Following this practice ensures that the employee is more connected to the employer.
So, these were the 6 Trends that have taken place in the new Employment Norms. Share and Comment down below if you have more of such trends in your notice. Thank you for following up this site every weekend :)

2. Co-Working Spaces:
Co-working spaces are on a booming rise these days, often common among start-ups and young entrepreneurs. Co-working spaces are different from offices in a way that the number of employees who work in a space are not necessarily employed by the same organization. It's a collaborative work-space. Though it is a common practice in start-ups, organizations are also welcoming this practice as a mode to save costs of the lease and land capital.
