Write your own 'Job Description' before finding the right job.

The best way to predict the future is to create it.

Hi there! Thank you for the response on my previous post. This is what motivates me to write more and share my learnings with you all. Now, that has got me to another important lesson that I learnt in my first year of Management: Choosing the right job which eventually shapes the entire career development path. This can be a tricky task but there's obviously a way out to it and that is to analyze your potential and write a Job Description for your own.

Step I - Do your own SWOT Analysis:
Now that you have chosen your field of specialization or have already graduated in it, it is time for you to analyse where do you see yourself and where do you excel than the others. That is possible when you would put forth the Strengths, Weakness, Opportunity and Threat points for yourself. This will help you get a clearer picture of what you want and manage a career path accordingly.

Step II - Your favourable Professional Field:
In this step, study from the newspapers and current business scenarios as to which field is going to have maximum advantage for your career. Be it FMCG, Banking, Financial Security, Investments, Consultancy, Retail, Media sector and so on and so forth. This step will help you focus on selected domains when you are searching the right job. There are certain professions which may not suit a sector, so its best to keep that mind before hand.

Step III - Write a Job Description for Yourself:
Now you may have read tonnes of JDs before applying for the job on various portals but have you ever made a JD for yourself? I guess, no! Writing a JD for yourself will help you focus on the job profile which is apt for YOU and which will definitely make you work at the best of your strengths and productivity. It's better to know what you want beforehand.

Step IV - Make a rough Career Development Plan:
Making a rough flowchart of your career ascent, goals, dreams and aspirations, will motivate you to work at the best of your abilities, and who doesn't mind some motivation to excel and reach at a peak in life, right?

So this was all about why making a JD for yourself is an important learning and hope these steps help you in your work journey and always remember to maintain a work-life balance!

Much Love, Gratitude and Positivity.
