‘Creative Résumé’ – The new version of first impression.

Hey there, hope you’re having a good time chasing targets for the new fiscal year, and for all those who’re looking forward to start something afresh, somewhere new, hope you’ve made a very attractive Résumé to make your first impression a lasting one. While we’re at this, today I’m going to share with you’ll how to add a ‘creative’ edge to your Résumé and make it an appealing one, because gone are the days plain paper will help you make your mark to land an interview.

First things first, keep your Résumé of just one page, precisely, just one side of a printing sheet. It has to cover all your important achievements, but it should be just to-the- point, keep the elaborate statements for your interview or for your Curriculum Vitae (CV). Its better you make pointers for the things that you feel should be a part of your Résumé and make a list of it to make the process easier.

Next, depending on the sector that you would want to work for, be it Media, BFSI, FMCG, Retail, and others, choose a set of colors and patterns accordingly. I mean obviously, if you send in a very bright colored Résumé for your Banking job, it may create an impression of you being too ‘loud’, while if you send the same for any Media or Fashion firm, you might as well have the better Résumé in the big stack.

The next thing that you can do is, download the Thesaurus. Instead of using the usual words to describe a quality / skill that you excel at, use different, words which are easy to read at-one- go and quick to remember. Just by using a different set of words, though you should avoid using all those jargons, your Résumé will ‘sound’ better. Also, cheat-sheet, you can read the Job Description put up by the firm that you’re applying at, and take up words from there itself, so that when they search for the key-words, your Résumé may stand out.

You can get help from websites like Canva.com to download templates and make creative Résumés on that website. They have amazing templates, fonts, graphics and color-palettes to choose from to make a very appealing Résumé in the PDF format. Here are few samples for you:
