Thinking Positively, but bad times still prevail? Here's how you can get that in control.
Hello everyone! September '17 is here in the blink of an eye and oh, what a roller-coaster kinda week it has been. Amidst this, I realized, something that I wish I could realize earlier, the fact that though I have been very optimistic about certain aspects of my life, the way I want them to be and the kind of work that it requires, some-how, the exact opposite is happening. Things are going hay-wire, misunderstandings and all things have happened that take the 'peace of mind' away. That's when I decided I'd do a bit reading, understand where my conscious thoughts and decisions might be going wrong, and there we have it, the topic to share this week on the blog. Now can you connect with the title? I hope so!
"De-clutter your mind, and open doors to new hopes and possibilities!"
- Dr. Farida Virani
Well yes, its true that I was being extremely positive and high on hopes about all that 'everything will be alright' stuff, but when the situation didn't change, there had to be some change in thoughts, a better vibe to send out for feeling better and for new possibilities to happen. That's when I read about the conscious and sub-conscious mind theories. Most of us may be putting in a conscious effort to be affirmative, but the fear, doubt, insecurities, 'what-if(s)', not sure about him/her, 'but why me' type of thoughts that linger on in the back of your mind is what is stopping your version of 'good times' from happening. This is the fact, that all those who are in this dilemma need to understand and rectify. Hence, I'm sharing all the methods that can help you fine tune your sub-conscious mind, the way you want it, and believe again in the miracles of optimism and faith in yourself and the god / the universe you believe in!
Experts say that, the mind is like an ice-berg, what we see above the brim of water, 10% of the ice-berg is the conscious mind, the left over part of the ice-berg, which is humongous as compared to the part visible, is the sub-conscious mind, which is 90% of your mind. They call the subconscious mind 'The Genie Within', the kind of thoughts that you have, is actually taken by the subconscious mind as a command. So, if your conscious is on the positive path, but your sub-conscious is on the 'doubt' path, the latter is the command that lead to the real circumstances.
Here are few ways you can work on clearing, rather cleaning your subconscious mind and match your conscious activities on the same wavelength to see the change:
1) First, Stop Thinking: This, perhaps, is the most important step I believe. If you don't stop thinking the way you are currently, there is no way things will change. As I told you, your conscious mind may be using the 'Positive Vibes Only' Mantra, but start inculcating those thoughts in your sub-conscious too. Every positive thought you have, stop backing it with self-doubt / insecure thoughts in the back of your mind. This is difficult but definitely not impossible, and you can actually feel the difference in a few days.
2) Break out from Old Habits: You have to let go off the habits that make you think unnecessary things or over-think about things. For instance, sitting idle, makes me think extremely idiotic stuff, yes I'm guilty of it, that mess with my brain, frustrate me and I end up having petty fights with the people I love. I'm sure this happens to you, so change your routine, change your habits in a way that you prevent such thoughts, or rather minimize them and not let them affect you so much.
3) Meditate (and no, not suggesting the usual one): Okay, here by meditation, I do not mean the usual yoga one that just crossed your mind. While the traditional meditation method is a powerful medium, your version of meditation can be totally different. Meditation is simply the activity that helps you cut-off from the world for a few moments to revise and refresh your thoughts and mind. For me, going for walks or jogging, writing in solitude, typography is my way of meditating and channelizing my inner self, make sure you have one such activity too, which recharges you.
4) Draw it out, or, write it out: Read this method in the book 'The Secret' by Rhonda Byrne, and I absolutely believe in the power of writing and drawing your thoughts, goals, and dreams. It works! You don't need to the Picasso in a way, but just draw figures or write stuff to make an impact on your subconscious mind.
5) Act like it: 'Fake it till you make it' - Well not literally faking it, but acting like whatever you have wished for, whatever you want to make happen. Let me give you an easy example that I have read of and observed too. An individual was hoping to get his name in his wished University abroad, and the wait was for about 2 months until the final list was out. Now that he knew he had 2 months, he started acting as if after 2 months he wasn't going to be in the town he was in before, he cancelled his gym membership, bought clothes appropriate for the abroad town, and acted out minor detailed things like these. Guess what, it worked for him, and now he is living gloriously abroad.
6) Repeat: All said and done, do you have an idea about the 21 Day Rule? It is said that, if you want to change any habit of yours, you do it for 21 consecutive days and it gets rewired in your brain as a better habit. Thus, follow the above 5 methods for 21 days, repeat these activities and before you know it, it will be habit. Repeat and refresh your sub-conscious!
So, these are my tried and tested methods of refreshing and rewinding my sub-conscious and conscious mind to get the energy to work hard to achieve what I have wished for. I hope this has been of help to you, and, comment down below if you want to share your insights on this topic. All good vibes to you!
Much Love, Positivity and Gratitude.
