5 Easy-Yet-Efficient Ways To Make Your Workplace More 'Employee Engaging'!
Hello!! Hope you have had an amazing weekend, and you're all prep-ed up for the week's that coming. Need some quick motivation? Well, you just have to work for another 9 / 10 'weekday's until the #LongWeekend is here, so get onto planning if you haven't already!!
While we're at January 2018, how are those New Year Resolutions going on? Honestly, I'm having a creative block off-late since I'm having really less motivation to write and be regular with other activities that I had planned for myself, and I really really need to bounce back and energize myself to keep going. (*Share your thoughts and tips over this please!)
Well, if you are someone who looks forward to getting some serious work done on 'Monday', then congratulations and be grateful, you are into a work space which is adding to the motivation that you have for your designated profile and work - Now this kind of 'organizational motivation' comes from Employee Engagement, and mind you, it is very shallow of people to think of this aspect of Human Resource Management that Employee Engagement = 'Fun At Work' - but it is definitely not that, there is a lot of strategic thought process and action that goes into keeping the employees 'engaged' with the organization for the mutual benefit of both.
Probably I shall talk about Employee Engagement and its key aspects in another blog post all-together, but this time I'm sharing super efficient and easy to do methods that organizations can put into practice to make their work culture even more welcoming and engaging. Surveys have suggested that small activities like these, which are done periodically, often leave far better impression on the employees engagement drive rather than the major activities. So, here are the methods:
1. 'Employee Shout-out':
So this is a really 'new age-social media' type of an idea where-in, you just designate a certain part of your office wall for all the employees to write some message about another employee / team member. Say, in your organization, you have seen an employee, from your team or from any other team, working hard and delivering well, you might just want to write a message motivating him / her on a post it, and stick it on the wall for him / her and others to read. It looks something like this:
2. 'CCC' - 'Chai-Coffee Chronicles':
They say the most important yet informal conversations and decisions happen over a cup of coffee / tea, so how about we use our culture's 'National Rejuvenating Drink' as a tool for each and every employee sans their position and designation gel with each other and have conversations. During this time, no employee is the boss or the subordinate, but they are using that time to engage like a close knit family. The advantages being: there will be more transparency among the employees and more ease of communication at all levels.
3. The good old handwritten letters / postcards:
Writing to someone is losing its charm day in and day out, but it is one of the most efficient 'personal' token of appreciation you can ever give to someone because what matters is the effort that goes into it. So, there can handwritten post card type short informal notes be sent not only to those employees who are doing outstanding at their designated tasks, but also to those who have been the under-performers to just 'check' on them and try and understand what has been bothering them and their performance. This activity if incorporated shows the effort and the consideration to the employees.
4. The Idea Box:
Now this is something extremely easy to do. Imagine this, each and every employee has a mind of his/her own which means they are beaming with immense amount of ideas AND every organization has some situation to handle which requires a lot of ideas and strategies. So this idea box is like a ballot box where in people can just put down their ideas and solutions about the topic that has been specified on the idea box. It looks like this:
5. Mood Checkup:
This is a very personalised engagement activity where in the moment the employee logs into his / her company account, there is a small pop-up window which asks them their 'Mood for the Day' or 'How are you feeling today?' and corresponding to their response, there is a motivational one-liner quote or 'what can be done about it' that goes with it. Such an act, will give the employees a small positivity boost in the beginning of the day itself!
So these were the 5 Easy-Yet-Efficient and effective ways to ensure that your employees are more 'connected' to the organization because that is the underlying goal of all the 'Employee Engagement' initiatives that your organization is taking! Comment down below with your inputs about this topic, I'd be grateful to know more.
Much Love, Positivity and Gratitude.
